Who for you?

Today, when I was out on my run – believe me this is NOT a regular event – I suddenly had a thought:

“What if I had a heart defect and suddenly dropped down dead whilst running?”

Tom was out – at the gym – this really is not who we are – honest! What if he came back and found I was dead?  Lying on the payment, surrounded by passers-by…

….and then I started thinking…not about the obvious people – family, really close friends – but about people in my diary – acquaintances, clients, my next door neighbour – people I’ve met, people I am expecting to meet for the first time, people who might come on the course I am planning…

And I thought of people who would be irritated, let down, fed up, sad, inconvenienced, lost, desperate if I was lying dead on the pavement – and didn’t get up…

And I know that all these people would find ways of living their life that are fine, and work okay without me – well perhaps not family – but everyone else…

But … as I thought about it … it was a bit like my very own “It’s a Wonderful Life” ( as in the film of that name) – so many people who would actually be less well off in some way – for a bit – if I dropped dead…

And it was really rather nice… it is so easy for me to think that I live the Life of Reilly – everything pretty comfortable, so fortunate in so many ways – that I forget that – while I’m having a pretty good time – I do actually make a difference…

So the point of this post – is not to say how fab I am – because I am just one human being in a sea of human beings – and very happy being so!

The point of this post is to ask you, “If YOU were suddenly not here – who would be irritated, inconvenienced, put out, fed up, sad, lost, desperate – if only for a bit – until they worked out how to sort things out…..  who do YOU make a difference to?”

Actually there are two points – the other one is I am planning a six session course starting on Tuesday 2nd February 2016 at 6.30pm – to offer information and support about how to live a healthier and more balanced life – reducing stress, eating more healthily and moving more – if you’d like to be part of it – do contact me – and see if you could be one of the people I make a difference to!
